About Us

Hi, my name is Devon and I am part of D & D Jewelry Designs.  My mom, Donna, and I started this business because we both have a love for art and beads.  I actually have a background in textile design with a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design. My mom in her later years discovered her talent by taking local beading classes for fun.  She then made the most beautiful bridal set for my wedding using the old pearls right off of her wedding dress, and incorporated swarovski crystals.  She also made a set for each of my Bridesmaids...they were an instant hit.

After a few years of creating silk dyed scarves I felt like I needed to do something more contemporary and fun.  I have always had an obsession with jewelry and I decided that I just had to learn how to make fused glass. My Mom and Dad (always 100% behind my creative instincts) helped fund some classes and my very own glass kiln.  I instantly felt like this was the medium for me and started to create one of a kind beautiful Dichroic glass pieces.  It did not take long for my mom and I to start beading up these pendants with swarovski crystals, pearls, seed beads and any other really cool bead we could find.

Our fused glass is made by stacking up pieces of glass scraps and firing in a kiln at 1400 degrees.  The pieces are taken out of the kiln and shaped on a grinder, then re-fired at a lower temperature to smooth out the edges, this is called fire polishing.  When the shape looks good, I will either wire wrap in sterling silver wire or create a beaded necklace making unique one of a kind pieces of jewelry.

My mom and I have so much fun creating our jewelry and doing shows. We hope everyone enjoys looking at our pieces and wearing them just as much as we do. So check out our schedule or e-mail us. You can make an appointment and we'll help you create a one-of-a kind piece or accent pieces for the entire bridal party.
